When it comes to effective infection control in an animal care setting, hand hygiene – in conjunction with proper application of veterinary disinfectant – is your most effective line of defence.
Proper hand hygiene is key to preventing the spread of illnesses and diseases, as well as the transfer of germs from hands to hard surfaces.
While hand washing is the holy grail when it comes to hand hygiene, it’s not always practical or convenient. That’s why having hand sanitiser conveniently located throughout your vet clinic or facility is essential.
And here at Safe4, we are pleased to announce that our new-formula hand sanitiser is now available for purchase in Australia. It has been specifically designed to be effective against bacteria and viruses, including Parvovirus and Coronavirus. And like all Safe4 products, it doesn’t contain any alcohol, so it won’t leave any sticky residue like many other sanitisers.
What makes the new-formula Safe4 hand sanitiser a great choice?
- Quick and easy to use
- Designed to kill viruses and bacteria without drying out or irritating skin
- Effective against Parvovirus and all strains of Coronavirus including COVID-19 (test report available here, and here)
- Quick evaporation – won’t leave your hands feeling sticky
- Economical – foaming formulation allows for substantially more applications compared to gel
- Easily refillable bottle
- Kind to skin thanks to the inclusion of aloe vera
Is an alcohol-free sanitiser effective against bacteria and viruses?
Absolutely! There is a common misconception that hand sanitisers need to include alcohol to kill germs, but this is not true at all. Alcohol-free sanitisers, such as the Safe4 hand sanitiser, have been shown to meet the same effectiveness standards as those containing alcohol.
And when you use the Safe4 alcohol-free hand sanitiser, you won’t have any issues with dryness, itchiness or irritation that can be caused by repeated use of a product that contains alcohol.
Why is foaming hand sanitiser better than a gel formulation?
If you ask people if they prefer to use a gel or a foaming hand sanitiser, most will choose the foaming option. Gel sanitisers can get messy really quickly, sliding off hands onto the floor, and squirting out in all directions when the pump gets plugged up; all of which can create a slip hazard for your staff and clients. Gel also has a completely different feeling on the hands, often leaving a sticky feeling while it is drying.
On the other hand, foaming sanitisers won’t create a mess, spreads easily on the hand and absorbs into the skin. The Safe4 virucidal and bactericidal hand sanitiser also contains aloe vera, which helps to moisturise the skin, and won’t leave your hands feeling dry or irritated with frequent usage.
Another key advantage of a foaming product is that it is well suited to being dispensed either through a pump bottle or via wall-mounted brackets. This makes it easy for vet clinics, animal shelters, pet resorts and research facilities to position hand sanitisers throughout their premises to ensure optimal hand hygiene.
